Deputy spokesman for the US State Department Mark Toner reiterated on Thursday that Iran has been committed to its promises under the nuclear deal JCPOA signed with the P5+1 group.
Answering a question about whether Iran is exceeding its heavy water limit is in violation of the deal, Toner said, “Iran made no effort to hide this – hide what it was doing from the IAEA.”
“During the course of its ongoing heavy water production, Iran produced a little more heavy water than permitted, but is now taking steps to address the issue by shipping the excess quantity out of the country, we expect in the coming days.”
“Iran made no attempt to hide it, and they’re taking immediate steps to address it,” Toner said.
In its latest report issued on Wednesday, IAEA chief Yukiya Amano once again confirmed that Iran has honored all its pledges under JCPOA.
